History

Did you know that 78% of children live in poverty in Rochester NY?

Can you imagine being so poor you never owned a box of crayons?

Do you remember how you felt when you got a new box of crayons?

You can help color a brighter future for kids in Rochester!

The Crayon Project was created and launched in April of 2002 by local artist and community activist, Isobel Goldman. Alerted by a teacher that the majority of Rochester city school kids leave school without books, toys or even a box of crayons, they are resigned to a summer of boredom.
